Marand Quality & Nata Services

Manufacturing control, ISO 9001 / AS9100C quality systems applied as required.

Final quality control and Inspection is provided by our dimensional Metrology Laboratory, with a guarantee of accuracy through N.A.T.A accreditation compliant with ISO 17025 requirements. Customer satisfaction is our objective, and this is applied through continuous review and improvement.

Work can be carried out to the most exacting standards and dimensions can be certified in metrology or inspection reports endorsed by Marand or NATA as appropriate.

The laboratory offers "roll in" inspection and testing facilities with high precision optical and electronic equipment housed within a temperature controlled environment.

To achieve the Automotive component machining objectives and satisfy our customer expectations, the Company is totally committed to implementing and maintaining the Quality Management System based on ISO9001:2008/AS9100C.

Any quality problems arising in various areas are to be identified and solved with speed, technical efficiency and economy. We shall focus our resources, both technical and human, towards the prevention of quality deficiencies to satisfy the organisational goal of "right first time...every time" and continuous improvement, this will be applied in all functions of company operation.

The successful operation of the Quality system relies upon the co-operation and involvement of personnel at all levels. Our commitment to quality will ensure the continued success of our Company and the satisfaction of customers and staff.

All employees within the organisation are responsible for understanding, implementing and maintaining the requirements of the Quality System throughout their normal work practices. This quality system is based on the requirements of the internationally recognised ISO and AS/EN standards.

Quality Manufacturing Processes

Marand has implemented quality management systems to meet the demands of ISO-9001:2008 for design and manufacturing, CASA for aerospace component machining, and AS9100 for aerospace.

Quality systems operate at every step of our design and production process and underpin our commitment to provide a quality product.

Accountable manufacturing processes produce equipment with ever narrower tolerances and flexible operating conditions. Our product traceability system enables us to track all materials and components to their point of origin. All details or parts produced are inspected and signed off before assembly to minimise any risk of faults and failure.

Our designs consider our Environmental management system requirements (ISO14001:2004) and can be tailored to meet your own stringent environmental requirements.

From Quality Workmanship to High Tech Precision

Already internationally recognised for its design and special purpose machine capability Marand attained Quality Management system accreditation to ISO9002 in 1998, then QS 9000:1998 in 1999 and ISO 9001:2000 in 2003.

In 2009 Marand attained ISO9001:2008 and AS9100C superceeding all previous versions.

  • BAE Systems and Marand announce teaming agreement on Land 400

    2 February 2017

    BAE Systems Australia and leading Australian defence SME Marand today announced a teaming agreement for LAND 400, building on the companies’ long-term partnership on major projects.

    Marand will contribute leading cross-sector expertise gained from the automotive, aerospace, rail and defence sectors to the program, providing a range of production engineering solutions. The company has proven experience in welding ballistic steel, advanced machining and complex assembly performed on a daily basis for defence exports, and has been designing, building and launching vehicular production lines for over 30 years.

    BAE Systems Australia Chief Executive, Glynn Phillips, said:

    “I am delighted that Marand has chosen to work with BAE Systems Australia on Land 400. Today’s announcement demonstrates how Australian industry is getting behind our solution for the Australian Army.”

    BAE Systems worked with Marand on its transition from the automotive and aerospace to defence industry through collaboration on the global F-35 Joint Strike Fighter program more than 10 years ago. BAE Systems provides titanium parts to Marand which are used in the manufacture of F-35 vertical tail fins in Australia and are in turn exported to the USA under contract from BAE Systems in the UK.

    In July last year, BAE Systems and Land 400 bid partner Patria were confirmed as one of two tenders selected to take part in the 51 week Risk Mitigation Activity for the Australian Army’s Land 400 Phase 2 combat reconnaissance vehicle program.

    BAE Systems and Patria are offering the combat-proven AMV35 for Land 400 Phase 2. The team is committed to manufacturing the AMV35 locally with an industry solution that will grow local manufacturing knowledge, create jobs and bring further economic benefits to the Australian SME supply chain.

  • First in Australia, Marand now accredited for NADCAP Measurement & Inspection

    Marand is now accredited for CMM and Laser Tracker measurement and inspection by The National Aerospace and Defense Contractors Accreditation Program (Nadcap).

    At the time of accreditation, Marand was Australia’s 1st company and 1 of only 8 companies globally to receive the accreditation.

  • Marand continues global F-35 success in training domain

    Following on from their very successful work in manufacturing vertical tails, an extensive range of aerostructures tooling and the F-35 engine installation and removal trailer, Marand has recently competed for and won a contract from Lockheed Martin for the detail design and manufacture of new F-35 Lightning II training technology. Marand will design the fuselage assembly for an engine and lift fan removal and installation trainer (ELFRIT) for the F-35 program.

    The initial ELFRIT will be delivered to the U.S. and will be used to train maintenance crews in the precision tasks of removing and installing engines and lift fans. Marand hopes that further examples of ELFRIT might be required at a number of the major F-35 sustainment bases worldwide.

    The contract for the initial ELFRIT represents around 45 person-years of additional Australian input to the F-35 program. Marand envisages that over 95% of the labour input will be carried out by Australian companies and a large proportion of the material content will also be locally sourced.

    Marand’s proven capability to develop and test innovative multi-purpose mechanical systems will be used for this contract.

    Marand’s General Manager of Aerospace and Defence, Mr Steve Mellor said, “This is another great opportunity for the Marand team to provide more innovative solutions into the F-35 programme. We are very excited to have the opportunity.”

    Marand expects to complete the design phase mid-2017 and to deliver the first unit late 2018.
