Replacing traction motors, wheelsets and bogies is an essential part of maintaining rail fleets and no maintenance workshop is complete without the means to remove and fit these parts.
The Marand Single Axle Drop Table is used to remove and replace wheelsets/bogies and traction motors from most rail vehicles. The table is a 4 post screw jack design for lifting & lowering, with ancillary devices hydraulically actuated. The drop table can be operated from a central control console or via hand held pendant remote.
This simple and compact design allows for easy installation and operation while remaining robust enough to handle the heaviest locomotives currently in service.
Designed in conjunction with heavy haul operators to remove line of fire hazards for workers the machine includes enhanced features such as:
- Hydraulically actuated tilt mechanism to raise/lower the traction motor for uncoupling/recoupling, allowing operator to remain out of hazardous area.
- Automated wheel chocks to chock the wheelset in position and allow the replacement wheelset to be set down in the same location for ease of exchange.
- Dolly traverse mechanism to easily align the table for exchange
- Optional Axle box support mechanism for ease of removal and installation of axle boxes without using overhead crane
- Hydraulically actuated shot pins with positional feedback to ensure the table is safe for traversing over.
- Bogie support jacks located within the drop table pit for supporting bogies during the exchange process. Controlled from the operator console or via remote pendant to remove line of fire hazards.
Marand droptables are in use at Australia’s largest and highest throughput operations supporting Australia’s iron ore heavy haul operations in Karratha and Port Hedland. All Marand machines are designed and built in Australia to AS4024 and AS3000 machine and electrical safety compliance.
Marand have a range of Turntables ranging from 1Ton to 200Ton capacity.
The turntable allows fast and efficient rotation of rolling stock including wheels, bogies and locomotives without the need for extensive track work or occupying valuable surface area.
Marand turntables are designed for cyclonic areas. Marand engineers will work closely with our customers preferred civil design and construction suppliers to facilitate safe installation and commissioning.
Our in house design team can deliver custom payloads or and configuration to suit your needs. We also offer upgrades of mechanical, electrical, safety and controls, as well as retrofit and replacement of existing legacy units.
Machine features can include:
- Easy to use operator interface
- Fully automated one push operation
- Automatic shot pin locking mechanism upon track alignment
- Safety railing around the entire perimeter to prevent any open access during rotation
- Full length Lanyard E-stops on both sides of the bridge section
- Interlocked pit access gates
- Optional fully enclosed operator cabin
- Configurable for differing lengths and capacities dependent on end user
Marand turntables are in use at Australia’s largest operations across Australia including Pacific National’s Loco operations. All Marand machines are designed and built in Australia to AS4024 and AS3000 machine and electrical safety compliance.
